Held during Israeli Space Week 2023, the conference unveiled preliminary results and publications from the wide range of scientific experiments and tech demonstrations that took place on the International Space Station in April 2022, during Eytan Stibbe’s stay on the ISS as part of the Ax-1 mission. The conference was an opportunity for startups, entrepreneurs and researchers involved in the mission’s scientific endeavors to present their findings to the Israeli space community, the four Ax-1 crew members, and guests from Axiom and NASA who traveled to Israel for the occasion.

Presenters included:

professor Yoav Yair from Reichman University, presenting the ILAN ES experiment;

Yoav Simhoni from Tel Aviv University, presenting the COTS capsule experiment;

Dr. Oren Milstein from StemRad, presenting the AstroRad project;

Daniel Rockberger from NSLComm, presenting the NISSAN project;

professor Moran Bercovici from the Technion, presenting project FLUTE;

and Dr. Yannai Toister and Nimrod Astarhan from Shenkar College, presenting the art project Earth Signal Universe Wide.

A panel discussion also showcased results from some of the medical and clinical experiments conducted during the mission:

Dr. David (Dudu) Burstein from Tel Aviv University talked about the CRISPR experiment;

Dr. Efrat Bron-Harlev from Schneider Children’s Medical Center talked about the effects of microgravity on cancer cells;

Yair Levy from brain.space talked about EEG mapping in space;

Dr. Harel Baris from Sheba Medical Center talked about the ARC Space Lab medical innovation project;

and Dr. Gal Antman from Rabin Medical Center talked about the effects of space on the human eye.

The conference also marked the unveiling of a broad cooperation agreement between Axiom and the newly formed Rakia public benefit company, aimed at advancing Israeli involvement in activities on the International Space Station and in future Axiom projects.
